GH Spoilers: Trina’s Family Ends Up Being Right About Spencer — But Can Trina Let Go?

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) has been arguing with her family from the start about Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez). They have never thought he was good enough for her, and he may be about to prove them right. Spencer’s eyes are on the prize — getting custody of his baby brother, Ace Cassadine (Jay and Joey Clay)

He is set on making sure Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) is eventually primed to hand the baby over to him, and what better way to do that than to fool Esme into thinking she’s getting what she wants in return? When Spencer plays his way into Esme’s heart, he’ll have to forsake Trina in the process to get the job done. This is going to get messy.

Spencer is young and quite naive when it comes to manipulation and getting what he wants. Victor is willing to groom him to become what he believes is a real Cassadine, but it’s going to take time. For now, he’s got to help Spencer see that he’s overthinking things with Esme.

He’s not nearly as tough as he thinks she is, and it would do Spencer well to remember the acts she carried out before were put in place by her mastermind father, Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom). Esme was never the ringleader; she’s not nearly as sharp.

Of course, that sword is double-edged. Knowing that Esme wasn’t the one to come up with the plan to target Spencer and his family might help him come to terms with how easy it would be to manipulate her. Ryan did it, after all.

However, focusing relentlessly on how much of a victim Esme was of her own father is also only going to make Spencer see more of himself in Esme — a child taken advantage of by their father when it was convenient for him to use them. Likewise, as Spencer watches Esme mothering Ace, he’ll naturally warm to the new and improved version of her.

Ultimately, Spencer will follow through with his uncle’s plan, just as Esme went through with Ryan’s. But it won’t come without bloodshed. Spencer is going to have to cut his losses if he wants to walk away with that baby in his arms.

That means he has to convince Esme he’s falling for her, and will have to get her to fall for him in return. What does this mean for Trina? She’s out! Will she be able to walk away without a reasonable explanation from Spencer as he pretends to feel nothing for her and moves on with Esme? Stay tuned for more GH news and spoilers to find out.
