GH Spoilers: Austin Showed Up To Help Ava Hide Her Crimes — Is This Really The End Of Nikolas?

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) has shown up in the nick of time to rescue Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) from herself and her own bad judgment. In a split second decision when Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) threatened her little girl, Avery Jerome Corinthos (Grace Scarola), Ava knocked her soon-to-be ex-husband unconscious with an iron statue. When Austin showed up to discuss his cousin, Mason (Nathanyael Grey) with Ava and the threat he may pose to her, he caught her stuffing Nikolas into a stall in the stables and came to realize Ava can handle herself rather well. Austin may not know why he’s about to jump into a crime head-first to help Ava, but he is.

Austin and Ava are both running from old versions of themselves and the families they thought they left in the past. Both preferring to see themselves as anything but alike to the families they excommunicated themselves from, they’re now conspiring to cover up the murder of Ava’s husband and deciding what to do with his body so that no one will ever find it. This sounds all too familiar of days from the Jerome empire. Olivia Jerome (Tonja Walker) would be proud.

Meanwhile, Ava has stored her husband’s allegedly expired body in the stables at Wyndemere. She is spiraling trying to figure out what to do with his remains so that they will never be found, and how to keep police away from Spoon Island at the same time. Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) could throw a wrench into that plan when she confesses to the PCPD that she and Nikolas were holding Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) against her will in the castle’s north tower for months before she washed up on the Haunted Star, delirious and hypothermic. Will Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) and her boys in blue catch on to Ava’s secret?

Of course, the million dollar question is whether or not Nikolas is truly dead. Austin told Ava he was, but we know just enough (and only enough) about Austin to know he’s not always telling the truth. For whatever reason, sometimes this guy has an agenda. Obviously, he walked into Wyndemere at an opportune time, and there’s no way he could have known what was going on before he arrived. Still, he may have seized the opportunity to lure Ava in and get her indebted to him, which is something else his family likely taught him is wise. If Nik isn’t dead, he could be on the run again in hopes that he can stay out of jail if he suspects Elizabeth will be headed there soon.
