His entire family may get impacted in various ways by the court’s decision.

Josh Duggar Gets Date For Return To Court

In December, Josh Duggar received a guilty sentence in the wake of a trial that lasted about two weeks, per People. Since then, Duggar has remained behind bars. But on April 5, Josh will learn what his future holds.

The case focuses on allegations that the former reality TV star received and possessed child pornography. During his trial, Duggar’s lawyers tried to convince the jury that the 33-year-old had experienced one of two situations. First, the attorneys raised the possibility that someone had hacked Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s oldest son’s computer. And second, Josh’s lawyers attempted to float the possibility that Anna Duggar’s husband had gotten exploited by an unknown person.

But the lawyers’ attempts to free Josh failed. As a result, the April sentencing hearing will determine exactly how long Duggar must remain behind bars. But the trial also will consider the possibility of fining the former reality TV star. However, the technicalities in the legal charges may result in Josh getting sentenced only for receiving. That catch-22 stems from the fact that the possession crime “is considered a lesser included offense,” per the legal reports.

How Long Could Josh Spend In Jail And Who Gets Impacted?

On April 5, Josh Duggar will learn the price he must pay for downloading and possessing child pornography. Each of the two guilty verdicts could result in up to 20 years in jail. And that could mean Josh spending as long as 40 years in prison for Jim Bob’s and Michelle’s oldest son, reported the Sun. The final verdict could turn into a ripple effect that impacts every member of the “Counting On” clan.

Some fans have speculated primarily about Josh’s wife Anna Duggar. Mother of his seven kids, Anna has sought to support her husband. Without Josh’s money to provide funds, though, to whom can Anna turn? But others have raised questions about Josh’s and Anna’s children.

For instance, on Reddit, some critics expressed concern that Anna doesn’t recognize the potential danger that Josh poses to their children. “I sincerely hope CPS [Child Protective Services] launches an investigation,” wrote one commentator. “She has proven how in denial she is and how unsafe her kids really are with her.” And another chimed in, “But I just can’t imagine that CPS wouldn’t take a look at a family with a convicted pedophile in it.”
