Royal Family News: Is 2021 The Year That Prince Charles Takes Over For Queen Elizabeth?

Prince CharlesBritish royal family news divulges that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth could have major plans for her eldest son, Prince Charles. Is she preparing to hand the reins over to him before her own reign is over? She turns 95-years old this year and some are beginning to wonder when and if her son will ascend the throne and have his day in the sun.

It would be quite a change up if she decided to simply anoint him king while she is still alive, but many think this is exactly what will happen now that Prince Charles is in his 70s.

Then again, some royal experts think this scenario is as likely as a pig flying. What’s the true story? It could be a tale that lies somewhere in between the two extremes.

According to royal watcher Charlie Langston the queen will not abdicate the throne. But, she is preparing for a transitional period within the royal family. This would presumably allow Prince Charles to take over some of his mom’s responsibilities while she is still in the big girl chair.

Langston is of the opinion that there is no way the queen will voluntarily step down and many others think she is right. For instance, she once said that she will rule for life. That was decades ago, but a promise is a promise!

Langston claims that the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall will one day take the throne but in the meantime they will slowly assume some of the roles held by Her Majesty.

“We will start to see Charles stepping into a lot of the roles his mother previously occupied,” she said.

“I think Charles and Camilla will take on a number of public events that they previously would not have done,” Langston added.

Already in 2021 the queen has canceled her four annual garden parties, celebratory events that saw around 30,000 participants in all invited to the parties.
