The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Summer Not Done With Kyle – Lola Prepared To Fight

Summer (Hunter King) recently helped Kyle (Michael Mealor) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But her tell to Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) was not just about Jabot business. Instead, it’s the start of a larger plan to win Kyle back.

Lola (Sasha Calle) is a legitimate rival. Summer knows that now. Trying to split the quickly forming ‘Kola’ will prove difficult, but surely isn’t impossible.

Kyle felt that Summer manipulated him since she returned to Genoa City in June. She’d been gone since 2016, when the younger Abbott man resembled Lachlan Buchanan. So, persuading Phyllis to let Kyle work on a plum Jabot project came as a surprise. He remains leery of his former girlfriend’s intentions, but has maintained that she has a good side.

Just as Lola was about to become known to Kyle, he let Summer know the truth. Kyle still had feelings for King’s character and was open to getting back together romantically. Summer rejected that outreach and announced an increase in her eventual disastrous pursuit of Billy (Jason Thompson).

Billy’s cruel use of Summer enabled Kyle to be seen in a renewed light. However, Lola’s write-in to Genoa City meant that Summer no longer had Kyle as an immediate fallback option.

Part of Lola’s power is that she’s starkly different than Summer. Instead of coming from a prominent GC family, Lola is new in town. Creating La Vida Lola, her growing food truck business is vastly different than being given a job at Fenmore’s because one’s mom (Phyllis) works there. Along with both backstory points, Lola hasn’t injected drama to Kyle’s life.

Summer needs to play the long game at this point. Attempting to engineer a ‘Kola’ breakup, or trying to make Lola somehow look bad probably would backfire. While Kyle’s antenna will remain up indefinitely, he still cares for Summer.

Familiarity and proximity are Summer’s starting points as of now. Kyle’s history with her can be revisited if he chooses to do so. So Summer must remain available. That’s possible considering the regular contact they’ll maintain inside the Jabot building. But Lola is smart, strongly appealing, and prepared to fight hard for her new man.
