The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Sharon Keeping JT Info From Nick – Shick Can Survive

Sharon (Sharon Case) is withholding information from the man who just committed to her (again) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But this time she’s doing so for honorable reasons. Yes, when Nick (Joshua Morrow) considers everything in retrospect, he’ll realize that ‘Shick’ can survive the coming J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) reveal.

The soapy setup to this on-again couple’s tale is too detailed for one digital feature. So a short refresher, that’s hardly meant to be comprehensive, will suffice. Sharon and Nick married when they were young in the 1990’s. They came to raise Sharon’s daughter Cassie (Camryn Grimes), who tragically died as the result of injuries suffered in a car accident in 2005. Phyllis (then played by Michelle Stafford) became involved with Nick and ‘Phick’ formed.

As tenured Y&R viewers recall, Sharon and Nick had two children along the way and nearly remarried in 2014, when Gina Tognoni became the recast Phyllis. The reveal at that time involved Sharon having manipulated paternity information about ‘Phick’s’ daughter, Summer (Hunter King). Another, far messier paternity lie was exposed last year. That involved Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen), who Sharon played off as her and Dylan’s (Steve Burton) own son (Scully).

The invented dilemma this time around involves Sharon agreeing to help coverup Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) accidental erasure of J.T. Hellstrom. Those two ladies were coerced by Phyllis to bury Luckinbill’s over the edge character in Chancellor Park. J.T. first left Victor (Eric Braeden) for dead and then purposely turned off his ventilator, thus Nick’s pressing interest in Hellstrom’s whereabouts.

Of course Nick will be upset when he learns of Sharon’s involvement in the above-referenced scheme. But he’ll also realize that she was protecting his mom and sister, Vickie (Amelia Heinle). Plus, Nikki, Vickie, and Phyllis won’t be able to attack Sharon’s actions in this instance, making the fallout different than the past. Nikki and Vickie, in particular, are likely to even defend Nick’s renewed romantic interest as well.

It’s totally reasonable for hopeful ‘Shick’ fans to wonder if Y&R is setting up another teaser, where Sharon and Nick don’t make it all the way back together. Considering past history and the feel of this storyline, it’s fair to believe that this reformed couple has at least a fifty percent chance to survive and move forward. That’s a much better outlook and with far different circumstances than was true four years ago, which is encouraging.
