Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) pulled a Billy (Jason Thompson) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. She screwed up and then hide the problem that she was responsible for creating. That’s why ‘Philly’ is in tatters.

Yes, it’s easy to blame him. This bad guy, Billy Abbott. He’s long been the default scapegoat.

All rational Genoa City residents and observers of this fictional town know Phyllis’ history. They recall when she looked like Michelle Stafford and routinely used her free will to destroy people’s lives because she was unable to control her me-first impulses.

Now, just when the man Tognoni’s finely played version of this great character claims to love has admitted he has a gambling problem and has willingly agreed to go to rehab, look at what happens. Billy’s trust has been betrayed at the exact moment he needed this relationship to provide hope within his life.

Sharon (Sharon Case) stood with strength and courage at ‘Shick’s’ altar. She read her pre-written vows to Nick (Joshua Morrow) until she could utter them no longer. Then, she tore up her script and spoke the pained truth to a rather sparse crowd. Observant soap fans took note of the empty pew seats, which didn’t seem to match the magnitude of this event.

Nick and Phyllis had once again sought comfort with each other, acting recklessly and with open disregard. Yes, ‘Phick’s’ resurrection has disrupted everyone’s lives one more time, just like it did more than a decade ago after Cassie (Camryn Grimes) died as a result of the injuries she suffered in a car accident.

So, what is Billy to do now? He can’t turn to Phyllis, the one person who he thought understood him in a way that Vickie (Amelia Heinle) seemingly never did. While Victoria’s role as a mother to his children is never in question, her ability to support him has long been fluid.

Consequences follow now that ‘Phick’s’ needless act has been revealed. The marriage proposal Phyllis actually accepted during what seemed to be ‘Shick’s’ re-nuptial’s has now been permanently sidelined, or maybe eviscerated.
