The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Phyllis and Billy Celebrate Fourth of July – Philly Unstable

For the moment, ‘Philly’ is okay on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But this couple’s relationship will at least be fractured, if not broken the instant Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) learns that Billy (Jason Thompson) has been enabling Summer (Hunter King).

Make no mistake, Summer has a plan in mind. She wants Phyllis to split from Billy. In order to make that happen King’s character has been waging a psychological campaign within her beautiful, though suddenly cramped guest house.

Phyllis and Billy were doing fine on their own. Then Summer decided to descend on Genoa City. She zoomed into this fictional Wisconsin town in a sports car she borrowed, ah, yeah, from a so-called boyfriend named Pax (an off-screen character who has yet to be cast). The authorities took possession of the vehicle and put Summer behind bars, but being a Newman she was quickly released and suffered no real punishment.

Within days Summer began hitting on Billy, who initially brushed off her advances as annoying. But then Miss Newman did something rather diabolical, she stoked Billy’s latent gambling habit. He’s since sat at three poker tables and there’s sure to be more.

The strategy is clear; make Billy spin out. As that happens, Phyllis will lose control over what is now her man. Yes, Summer is betting that ‘Philly’ won’t survive a reckless Billy Abbott.

Signs that Summer’s scheme is working include Billy handing out board member bonuses purely based on current quarterly projections. Jack (Peter Bergman) suggested that waiting until profits were actually realized before even considering handouts was common sense.

And the last man mentioned plays into Summer’s high stakes human game as well. She wants Phyllis back with Jack. Considering his single status, it is possible. But that rewrite might not be part of Y&R’s plan within this storyline.

As for Billy’s potential return to the dating pool, well if Kyle (Michael Mealor) doesn’t do as Summer wants, maybe she’ll be Jack’s half-brother’s most immediate option. Happy Fourth, Billy!
