The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Nick's Persistence Frightens Sharon – J.T. Issue Pushed By GC BuzzNick (Joshua Morrow) is bound and determined on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Of course that description could be written about any Newman family member during these past decades. As of May Sweeps 2018, Sharon (Sharon Case) is rightly frightened that the reward Nick offered on GC Buzz about information about J.T.’s (Thad Luckinbill) whereabouts will stir trouble, or much worse.

As Y&R viewers recall, Luckinbill’s surprise return to the cast late last year was followed by an arc that was geared toward perceived modern times. Genoa City is being told that an organic issue is rising from the people in the streets, when actually people are being told to reassess their emotions about J.T. and others branded like him (or her).

So, J.T. Hellstrom was a typical soap character from 1999-2010. Luckinbill left the cast, experienced success elsewhere in Hollywoodland and surprisingly revived his daytime career via J.T.’s reappearance in December 2017.

Within weeks Vickie’s (Amelia Heinle) former husband began erratically. Eventually his heart issue, which existed due to a previous electric shock, appeared to be the cause of his seemingly controllable struggles.

Apparently wanting to balance the scales of supposed justice, bad character roles were reversed, as the person who lost custody of Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu) to J.T. was now written as her ex-husband’s victim. The former good guy became the goat. This switch wasn’t lost on seasoned soap viewers.

Okay, so what does all this have to do with Sharon and Nick? Well, it doesn’t have much to do with them, really. But Y&R wrote a hopefully reforming ‘Shick’, Mariah (Camryn Grimes, 2018’s Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series Daytime Emmy Award Winner), and Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) into this storyline. Inserting Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) made sense, as she’s Vickie’s mother. As for the rest, yes, it’s a stretch.

Sharon was pushed into this tragedy through her idea of having a ‘Girls Night In’ for Vickie. The subsequent lies Sharon has told to Nick about what happened and her recent decision to stay all-in, instead of telling Paul (Doug Davidson) what happened, appears to write Case’s character back to the past. Hopefully that doesn’t happen, as fans have already seen what develops when one chosen character (J.T.) is purposely flipped in an intentional direction.
