The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Jack’s Heartbreak Furthers Paternity Mystery

The DNA test wasn’t a match on ‘The Young and the Restless’. And Dina’s (Marla Adams) preserved scrapbook also reaffirmed that Phillip II (Donnelly Rhodes) was never Jack’s (Peter Bergman) biological father. Jack’s resultant heartbreak furthered this intriguing paternity story.

Ashley’s (Eileen Davidson) suggestion, that Jack’s search needn’t go on, may not have been an implication. But this week’s developments provide additional evidence that John (Jerry Douglas) is dad, as was always told to Y&R fans.

It was great that Jess Walton (Jill) was written back into the script for this particular part of the Jack-centered arch. Her cast tenure dates back thirty Genoa City years. The character herself reaches back to 1973, which was the year this iconic soap debuted.

So, Dina’s recollection about meeting with a marvelous gentleman all those decades ago at a hotel on the outskirts of town proved to be inconsequential. Yes, those moments were meaningful to the then Mrs. John Abbott. But nothing more than conversations took place.

The two missing pages of Dina’s journal were pulled from the stuffed, old-school memory helper. With his mother’s permission, Jack then read her handwritten entry aloud.

Phillip was ruled out earlier after Jill grabbed and silently read the DNA test results Kyle’s (Michael Mealor) amazing efforts enabled. Jack was given that paper and saw the truth. He and Kyle were crushed.

To her great credit, Jill was deeply affected by Jack’s sincere heartbreak. She saw that Phillip, her timeless love, was wanted as a father and a grandfather.

What’s next? Well, Jack will press on, despite Ashley’s logical suggestion. Her half-brother’s emotion won’t allow him to think clearly. If he could, Jack would locate, or obtain a piece of John and have that tested against his own sample.

Various fans feel that Traci (Beth Maitland) and Billy (Jason Thompson) aren’t related to Jack, as past DNA tests proved, because they aren’t John’s children. If true then this legacy character was, is, and will again be Jack Abbott.
