The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Billy Can’t Blame Summer – Gambler Loses Jaboat

Billy (Jason Thompson) is an addict on ‘The Young and the Restless’. No, drugs or booze isn’t the issue. Might his many interactions with Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) and others, including Victoria (Amelia Heinle) therefore indicate that he has another impulse control issue that should be addressed? Yes. But, in this instance what’s being referenced is Billy’s addiction to gambling.

Summer (Hunter King) wanted to push Billy to the edge, or overboard. She’s easily succeeded in reviving her mother’s boyfriend’s taste for poker chips.

This particular game he loves isn’t a totally random chance, as strategy and card counting abilities can allow any seasoned player to do well. But the fever one contracts for the thrill of it all often leads to sudden devastation, as Billy just experienced.

An old foe appeared at the latest game, which appeared to be held in one of the Genoa City Athletic Club’s fine suites. Sinead (actor’s name unknown) beat ‘Billy-boy’ with a straight flush. Thompson’s character had four jacks. And so sailed Jaboat.

That cheeky term, Jaboat, will soon become a main point of contention as Billy continues to loose his grip on Jabot’s helm. He’s steering the family cosmetics company into treacherous territory as quickly as these many references have been written into this paragraph.

Billy should have immediately moved out of Summer’s penthouse when she returned. Phyllis likely would have followed, but even if she didn’t it would have been best for this now-formed triangle.

While it would be easy to say this storyline is repeated, there are surely various readers and viewers who have a connection to a gambling addict. Those real life instances are projected through Billy’s revert to this risky lifestyle choice.

With Jaboat lost to Sinead, Billy will have to account to Jabot’s Board of Directions. How will he do that?

Thankfully Jill (Jess Walton) is set to return to Genoa City. She has a way of putting her boy back on course. Possibly she’ll loan him money to cover his gambling losses. Hopefully, Jill also becomes wise to Summer’s games and, okay, let’s the wind out of her sails.
