The Young and the Restless (YR) RUMOR: Billy and Traci Stripped of Family Status – Jack Abbott Restored This Fall

The Young and the Restless (YR) RUMOR: Billy and Traci Stripped of Family Status – Jack Abbott Restored This FallFans of ‘The Young and the Restless’ are super savvy. They take the facts that are given and speculate about potential arc-enders that often take months to play out and are filled with red herrings. Using logic, it seems that Billy (Jason Thompson) and Traci (Beth Maitland) are going to to be stripped of their Abbott identities, not Jack (Peter Bergman), when this storyline climax happens.

Strong fan consensus tags Jack as the always-Abbott. That means viewers believe he always was, is, and will always be John’s (Jerry Douglas) biological son. Therefore, the biological odyssey Y&R is presenting won’t result in Jack assuming a new identity, but instead will result in Billy not being a blood relative and Traci being confirmed as a half-sister, or less.

Dina’s (Marla Adams) shocking, seeming reveal threw Jack’s life into a tizzy earlier this year. That seemed to start a replay of what Ashley (Eileen Davidson) endured in the mid-1980’s, where she was removed from the Abbott lineage and learned that Brent Davis (Bert Kramer) was her real father. The likelihood of 2018’s storyline playing out for Jack just as Ashley’s did wouldn’t be fresh, or make sense.

Viewers know that Ashley will be leaving this fall. No news of a recast exists. So, fans are assuming that Davidson’s cast exit means her alter ego will be leaving town for an indefinite period. Alice Hunter’s debut as Kerry Jones is set for October. Kerry’s position as Jabot’s chemist appears to support that the Ashley role won’t be recast in the near future.

Traci is set to return to GC very soon, as Maitland’s social media announcement confirmed. That point, along with Jack’s revived paternity search, likely means that Traci is being written back so she is present for the real paternity reveals.

Billy, like Traci, had a sample of his DNA tested against Jack’s. Both results were negative. However, those findings proved nothing conclusive. Yes, Jack believes that the DNA test results mean he’s not an Abbott. But, logically, Billy and Traci could be (or probably aren’t) John’s children.

Jill Atkinson (Jess Walton) has also retained the Abbott name within her nomenclature. She was infamous for her romantic exploits. So another man could easily be Billy’s father and it’s possible that Jill never sought to confirm that point, choosing instead to believe that her second son was John’s child. All past storyline points involving Billy’s genetic link to John can also be explained away by what’s coming.

Knowing that Ashley isn’t an Abbott would leave only two other Abbott’s in town. Traci is a recurring character, while Billy is a regular. But if Jack is the Abbott, and his previously presumed siblings aren’t, then he and Kyle (Michael Mealor) would be the only Abbott blood’s in GC.

It makes most sense that Jack’s legacy would be restored. Since Traci didn’t match Jack’s blood, she must have been adopted. Billy, ever the loser, would also be pushed out of the Abbott lineage. Of course, Jack would then quickly return to Jabot’s Chief Executive Officer’s chair.

No, Jack wasn’t a Chancellor. He’ll also be ruled out as a Fenmore and as a Miller, eventually allying Victor’s (Eric Braeden) fears. Jack’s logical blood tie can only be to the man he was named after, John. That makes Bergman’s character the one, the only, the always, Jack Abbott.
