Michael Muhney (Adam Newman) recently took to his social media account to announce something intriguing, as fans of ‘The Young and the Restless’ know. His seemingly cryptic tweet said, “Fantastic things coming. Patience. Enjoy the ride.” He followed those comments with later remarks about the character he made famous on Y&R.
Since leaving the cast Muhney has since explained the true details connected to his stunning release. He admitted to being too brash on the set.
Y&R also interviewed Muhney in 2014, thereby discrediting speculation that he wasn’t eligible for rehire. The actor’s public statements about wanting to return to the role Justin Hartley voluntarily departed in 2016 have since served to fuel ongoing speculation about the potential of this revival.
Comments made by Muhney within the last handful of days are intriguing because of what he seems to be implying and due to current developments on Y&R. It was just announced that Mishael Morgan (Hilary) is voluntarily leaving the cast after not being able to reach a contract extension. The loss of that important regular likely means that a former cast member will return to fill a current, or newly created role. A new cast member could also be hired as part of a recast (potentially being the new Hilary), or filing some other dormant, or new role.
It’s completely understandable if even the most ardent supporter of this soap opera, Muhney, or both have grown tired of conjecture regarding if, whether, how, or when the actor might return to Y&R. His last filmed episodes were shown in January 2013. However, if he is rehired as the next recast of Adam, scores of diehard, moderate, casual, and new viewers are sure to tune in and then stay awhile. The expected ratings surge makes this ongoing story plausible, rather than fantasy.
The return of this specific actor has become a tale of legend because of the circumstances surrounding his departure at the prime of his career in a role he was obviously destined to play. The Adam character also grew beyond the already prime spot of being Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) quixotic son.
Fans of ‘The Young and the Restless’ rightfully express their opinions on a regular basis. So, do Michael Muhney’s tweets indicate that his rehire is happening? Please vote in our poll below!
