The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Billy’s Actions Gets Him Outed – Phyllis Unable To Prevent Free Fall

The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Billy's Actions Gets Him Outed – Phyllis Unable To Prevent Free FallThe Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Billy (Jason Thompson) is fully to blame for his most recent screw up. His choice to give into his known compulsion, rather than seek help at various different points, represents a free will act. While that soapy plot point is logically irrefutable, Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) could also be tagged as an enabler. But that wouldn’t be fully fair.

There is no doubt that Phyllis was not on board with Billy’s decision to sit down at the poker table. She honestly didn’t know what to do. So Phyllis was hoping that Billy would be able to pull himself out of the mess he was creating.

Some gathered at Billy’s recent intervention claimed, compassionately, that Billy’s gambling represents a disease. But that subjective storyline point was countered by what Phyllis was experiencing since she accompanied him to Las Vegas.

Phyllis knows that Billy convinced himself that he had embraced what was actually a lifestyle choice. That’s what led him to embezzle five hundred thousand dollars from Jabot’s funds.

Gloria (Judith Chapman) facilitated that money shift, but didn’t know it. However, she wasn’t Billy’s significant other and so didn’t possess enough information to force a behavior change.

Beyond the seeming, coming climax to Jack’s (Peter Bergman) paternity mystery, why was Traci (Beth Maitland) written back into the script? She, not Phyllis, called for an intervention shortly after breaking from her book tour to help family. That lead-in appears to further the other major Abbott arc.

However, Phyllis should not beat herself up. The difference between having helped Jack fight off his own addiction in the recent past and not being able to help prevent, or reverse, Billy’s most recent devolution is simple. As fully shown during the gathering Traci called for at the Jabot mansion, Billy rejected the truth and didn’t want help.

Thankfully, Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) took Billy to the station where he could cool off and sober up. After that happened, Billy came clean to Phyllis about having misappropriated Jabot funds.

Maybe, just maybe, Billy has awoken and will take charge of himself. Yes, he squandered Jabot’s Chief Executive Officer’s position. But the loss of that prestigious slot is actually a small matter when compared to where he may well have been heading.

John (Jerry Douglas), who may be Billy’s father and still could be Jack’s, doesn’t need to meet his younger son in Heaven any time soon. Of course, that would assume Billy would be going up, instead of taking a detour to Purgatory.
