There are many pairings on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But which couple is the best in Genoa City?

It’s easy to tag ‘Lane’ as the best couple. Their recent reconciliation and Valentine’s Day week vow renewal ceremony surely reflects love. This duo’s trip around the world also serves to explain the relationship road they’ve traveled.

Lily (Christel Khalil) offered forgiveness to Cane (Daniel Goddard) after he made mistakes in Tokyo, Japan, and in Los Angeles, California. The left coast DARE commercial shoot sabotage, more so than the Juliet (Laur Allen) incident, pushed Mrs. Ashby over the edge. But healing took place over time, which resulted in ‘Lane’ being restored in Paris, France.

Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) and Billy (Jason Thompson) are one of the most unlikely couples in Y&R’s history. On that point alone ‘Philly’ is in the running for GC’s best Valentine’s Day couple.

Tognoni and Thompson aren’t Michelle Stafford and Billy Miller. Enough time has passed to allow the modern versions of these characters to have taken hold. It’s therefore fair to assert that Phyllis and Billy are truly delightful together. Their love is real, as ‘Philly’ fans know.

There are other couples that could be mentioned, like Lauren (Tracey Bregman) and Michael (Christian Le Blanc). They are known as ‘Likey’. Their marriage has endured and they surely remain a romantic pairing.

Paul (Doug Davidson) and Chris (Lauralee Bell) have been married for many years. But Bell is a part-time player. So this couple is in love, but doesn’t appear to have a nickname.

Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) are about to split. Mattie (Lexie Stevenson) and Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu) aren’t currently together. Jill (Jess Walton) and Colin (Tristan Rogers) are rarely in town. A handful of current, or off-and-on couples could also be referenced before the next paragraph begins.

Last and least, how many individuals would vote ‘Niktor’ as the best Valentine’s Day couple? Surely not Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), Victor (Eric Braeden) or any soap fan who has observed them in recent months.
