William Devry General Hospital Contract Negotiations Deadlocked - Will He Be Leaving GH?

According to “General Hospital,” sources William deVry (Julian Jerome) and the iconic soap have parted ways. Up until the last minute contract negotiations between deVry and the sudser seemed to be up in the air and it looked as if they could go either way.

Now insiders are saying that talks between the hunky soap veteran and the ABC soap have finally reached a dead end. Could things change at the final hour? Of course, anything is possible in soap land, but prior to today the contract negotiations seemed to be on shaky ground, and according to Soap Opera Digest deVry has shot his final scenes.

The taping that deVry did before GH’s three-week summer hiatus that began on June 30 are his last. DeVry has been with GH since July 2013.

“Nobody knew it was maybe his last day,” said a source of those earlier scenes. “I think we all just assumed there were lots of stories planned for Julexis.”

Julian returned from the dead in April, and at that time he had a candid interview with ABC Soaps in Depth about his alter-ego’s future. Did deVry himself think that his return would be permanent?

When asked if Julian’s miraculous, hoody-clad, return from the dead down at the docks meant that he’d signed a contract, deVry remained vague during the interview, saying, “That’s not necessarily so … until it’s done, it’s not done.

At the time the talented actor seemed to be taking a philosophical approach to the situation, saying, “When I need to cross that bridge … it will all get sorted out. If we want to work with each other, we will.”

And now it would seem that GH fans finally have an answer to the Julian question, and as far as Julexis goes, it appears that deVry’s co-star Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) will have to find a new man to keep her company in Port Charles.
