The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Matchmaker Jill Tries Again – Lane’s Restoration Odds Improve

Lily (Christel Khalil) hasn’t gotten over Cane (Daniel Goddard) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Jill (Jess Walton) sensed that and like any good mother, or in this case, step-mother, is trying to help her son repair his marriage. While nothing is certain, ‘Lane’s’ odds of being restored have certainly improved in recent weeks.

Awhile ago in soap and real time, Jill attempted to help her son Billy (Jason Thompson) and Vickie (Amelia Heinle) restore their union. Divorced for years, Jill believed that their loved still existed and if they placed in proximity to each other, this pair would recognize reality and embrace each other again. They didn’t, but that’s not what this feature is about.

So Jill finagled her way to owning Brash and Sassy, which Billy had initially obtained, but couldn’t hold onto. She then tapped her three favorite people, Billy, Cane and Vickie to run the company as a three-headed monster. Eventually, Vickie bought her out.

As Y&R viewers recall, Vickie and Billy were all over each other at work. Cane didn’t like it and often expressed his angst. Vickie grew tired of what she saw as whining and sent Mr. Ashby to Japan. Doing so got him out of her hair and set up Goddard’s deepest arc in years.

It’s not that Lily doesn’t still love her husband. She does. But she’s rightfully leery of restoring their relationship because of everything that happened in Tokyo and what Cane later did to Billy in Los Angeles, which resulted in Jess’s (Max Adler) blackmail.

Cane’s payoff to Jesse was made by siphoning nearly all of Charlie (Noah Alexander Gerry) and Mattie’s (Lexie Stevenson) school funds. Lily was shocked to learn that happened when Vickie and Billy told her.

However, life is often virulently unpredictable. And so it was when Juliet (Laur Allen) died in childbirth.

Sam’s motherless existence has fueled Cane’s renewed outlook on life. While she’s still adjusting to her husband being the father of another woman’s baby, Lily’s innermost feelings haven’t changed.

Lily loves Cane, as Jill and everyone else in Genoa City can see. With time, patience and compassion it’s possible that ‘Lane’ can rekindle what never was extinguished.
