Yes, Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) aren’t close right now on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But sometimes a child can bring stubborn people together. Yes, Faith (Alyvia Alyn Lind) could be the key to an eventual reconciliation between this father and son.
Faith, like any 10-year-old, couldn’t possibly process the many negative family changes that took place this summer. That’s why this scribe felt Victor was justified in telling his driver to set the limo’s GPS unit for Faith’s summer camp.

The brief meeting Victor had with his granddaughter was calculated, but not to the dark degree that past Moustache moves have been. Basically, Victor wanted to protect Faith from being hurt and also keep his connection with her open. He succeeded on both fronts.
Nick and Sharon don’t know about that day-before-their-daughter-returned meeting. Faith is sharp, so she was able to skillfully withhold that information from her parents.
The current state of the Newman clan isn’t great. Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) is living in a newly opened hotel in the city because she couldn’t stand being with Victor any longer. Nick and Victor duked it out on two separate occasions. Their family squabble then went viral, via the omnipresent Hilary Hour. Then, Victor booted Nick out of the Tack house.
Faith’s return to town has actually paid immediate dividends for the father and son in question. They are both often on their best behavior when this impressive young lady is around. Her presence makes them want to be better men.

Victor’s positive influence caused Faith to reconsider her behavior toward her father. When later given the option to stay with Sharon for a few days, Faith instead opted to return to penthouse with her dad.
Nick has already demonstrated that he’s willing to be flexible, as he agreed to Faith’s request to see her granddad after having first rejected it. Sharon and Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) are also in favor of Faith continuing to have access to Victor.
Continued interaction and eventual communication should allow Nick and Victor to slowly cool down. New emotional scar tissue exists, but it seems as though permanence hasn’t cemented itself.
Of course, The Underground issue hasn’t come to light. But even that business matter, when revealed, shouldn’t prevent Faith’s love for her father and grandfather from being eclipsed by petty grievances. And with that, hope persists for an eventual Newman family reunion of some sort.
