The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Vickie Dances On Legal Line Again - Cane's Blackmailer the Bigger Issue

Vickie (Amelia Heinle) morphed into her father again on ‘The Young and the Restless’. After learning that Cane (Daniel Goddard) was talking with Jack (Peter Bergman) about a job at Jabot, the owner of Brash and Sassy effectively blackballed the employee she’d just fired.

It was understandable that Vickie decided to fire Cane after Juliet’s (Laur Allen) harassment lawsuit was settled. He didn’t harass that woman as she claimed, which, as always, serves to undercut the legitimate claims of all people (men and women) who’ve been harassed in the workplace.

Cane’s actions since Tokyo, Japan, haven’t come close to meeting benefit of the doubt standards that most professionals are offered in a comparable situation. So his termination was was arguably justifiable. While it was reasonable for Vickie to want to protect her company, going to Jack for the specific purpose of preventing Cane’s hire feels questionable.

With nothing to lose, the former Brash and Sassy employee has confronted his former employer. Legal action could be dead ahead, depending upon Cane’s evolving state of mind and any realized employment position.

However, Cane is facing a problem that goes well beyond the bind Vickie’s manipulative actions created. Jesse has requested a second payment. Hush money to maintain his silence for having helped sabotage Billy’s (Jason Thompson) DARE commercial shoot in Los Angeles.

Consider both incidents where Cane wasn’t fully wrong. Juliet lied about being harassed in the workplace and that cost him his job. Vickie’s persuasive conversation with Jack directly prevented him from getting another job. Both matters, if viewed from certain angles, make Cane a sympathetic figure.

But paying some guy to set Billy up in LA, via a spliced digital recording, makes Cane one hundred percent wrong. His actions damaged Brash and Sassy’s expensive business project, resulted in Juliet being fired and stopped Lily’s (Christel Khalil) comeback modeling gig from happening.

When those terrible actions are exposed, every excuse Cane might make to all involved parties will not only look like lies, but will also call into question anything he’s claimed to-date about his victim status. Mr. Ashby is reaping what he sowed.
