EastEnders Spoilers: Are Ronnie And Roxy Mitchell Returning For Halloween?

Is it even possible? The Mitchell sisters Ronnie (Samantha Womack) and Roxy (Rita Simmons) dramatically left EastEnders on New Year’s Day last January. We very clearly saw them drown in a pool, Ronnie in her wedding dress and Roxy suffering from a heart attack. So how can it be that they are returning?

Well it seems the rumour began over something very unlikely. Some hawk eye fans spotted extras in last week’s show who looked a lot like the Mitchell sisters. Same blonde hair, same height. But surely this must be a coincide? Right…?

Some fans don’t think so, they took to social media to speculate over this theory. Many joking that they could come back for a ghost sequence since it is quickly coming up to Halloween. Who would they be haunting, Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) perhaps? It’s not unlike the soaps to bring back characters from the dead at this time of year, reason and reality flies out the window when it comes to the Halloween specials.

Another theory (which is far more likely) is that this is purely a coincidence. The actresses were not on best terms with the show when they left and it is unlikely they would agree to return so soon after they were killed off. Neither actress wanted their time on the show to end, Rita Simmons even went as far as to say it was “cruel.”

Plus, both Rita and Samantha have had a change of career since the beginning of this year, they have taken to the stage. With Samantha playing Morticia Adams in The Addam’s Family and Rita playing Paulette Bonafonte Legally Blonde the Musical. It seems that they have swapped soaps for stage acting and couldn’t be happier.
