Days of Our Lives Kassie DePaiva Reveals Cancer Changed her Perception of Beauty
“Days of Our Lives” actress Kassie DePaiva fought a courageous battle with cancer. Now in remission, she is getting ready to return to the NBC soap opera. In the meantime, Soap Opera Digest talked to the star about several topics. One included how her perception of beauty has changed since her diagnosis and remission.
When fans heard about DePaiva’s cancer diagnosis, there was an outpour of support for the actress. This helped keep her strong, but so did her family, friends, co-stars and her faith. While going through treatment, it changed her whole outlook. “I realized more than anything that we are not our bodies. Your body and looks will fail you. It’s just a matter of time. But your spirit will never fail you, and I think that’s where beauty lies.”
In a previous interview with the publication, Kassie DePaiva discussed the side effects of her cancer treatment. She didn’t hold anything back and went into great detail.
“The chemotherapy was really, really intense. My first round of chemo was seven days straight, 24 hours a day, then 12 days later your hair falls out, but during that time, there are certain side effects: You get sores in your mouth, you get constipation, diarrhea, a lack of taste. All in all, you just feel really lousy, and you go back into the hospital for your second, third, fourth and fifth round of chemo, and that chemo is 60 times stronger than the first round of chemo that you do.”
In this new interview, the “Days of Our Lives” actress discussed what happened when she started to lose her hair.
“I thought it was going to be something gradual, but on the 14th day, I woke up, and there was a massive amount of hair on my pillow. By 6 o’clock that evening, I barely had any hair on my head. But I didn’t think anything about it. I knew that if I lived, it was going to grow back.”
Kassie DePaiva is excited to get back to work on “Days of Our Lives.” She recently teased that Eve Donovan is going to have a bombshell and some secrets. Fans can’t wait to see her back on daytime TV and are thankful that she is in remission.
