Y&R Spoilers: Victor Rejects Jack As Nick’s Sober Coach – But Nick Bonds With His Dad’s Rival Anyway? The Young and the Restless spoilers show that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) just turned down Jack Abbott’s (Peter Bergman) offer to sponsor Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow). Even the idea of his son getting help from an Abbott is apparently too much for the great Victor.

However, we think that Nick is still going to reach out to Jack and may be exactly what he needs to help beat his addiction.

Victor’s Pride

Victor’s pride really knows no bounds. As a parent, it’s our job to help our children by any means necessary. Even if it means we set our pride aside and accept help from someone we may not even care for.

Nick’s recovery deserves better than being caught in the middle of some businessmen pining over control. However, we think Nick could go around his father’s back and take Jack’s offer anyway.

Nick knows he needs help, and if he can’t get it from his own father, why can’t he venture out and accept a hand from someone else? He shouldn’t have to turn down help because his dad is grumpy and doesn’t like Jack.

Why Jack Might Actually Get Through To Him

The thing about Jack is that he’s a bit steadier than Victor. His demeanor is generally smoother and calmer. Unless there’s a chair too close to a window.

Jack has lived through his own share of disasters, but he always tends to show up to help whenever he can. Most importantly, he doesn’t use it as a power play.

Victor sees everything as a game of chess. You could be his queen in the game, or you’re simply a pawn he will use to get what he wants. Either way, he makes you feel good because, hey, you’re on the same team!

Nick and Jack could legitimately form a bond through something like this, and no way Victor takes that well. He’ll see it as a betrayal. Simply, his son choosing an Abbott over his own guidance.

Nick deserves a genuine shot at recovery, and sadly, he’s not going to get that from his own family. A Nick and Jack sponsorship storyline might be really fun to watch, and see how much more they have in common than they thought.
