Victor has instructed Matt to get close to Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) and has asked Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) this week not to inform Cane about Matt’s troubling past.
Victor’s Strategy For Matt And Its Implications
We’re set to explore Victor’s strategy for Matt and the implications it may have, including a potential job and maybe even a romantic subplot.
Y&R is evidently pushing forward with this rapist redemption arc that shows no signs of stopping.
Victor has no issues with rapists; it’s appalling that he would ask Phyllis to shield Matt, who is, once again, a known rapist.
This is especially troubling given that Victor previously introduced Marco Annicelli (Peter Bergman) into Phyllis’s life, placing that stranger in her bed.
He was essentially violating her on a daily basis for months-this remains a major source of her frustration with Victor.
Victor Kidnapped Jack And Subjected Him To Kelly Andrews
At the same time, he kidnapped Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and left him with Kelly Andrews (Cady McClain), who repeatedly assaulted Jack until she was violently killed.
This marked the second occasion when Victor hired Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) to kidnap and assault Jack.
Victor also did the same to Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson), as he was the one who employed Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) to drug and rape Billy.
Additionally, Chelsea set Billy up by planting drugs on him to have him arrested, and then she claimed to be pregnant.
So, when Victor invited Matt to stay at the ranch near Sharon Newman (Sharon Case), a woman he had raped once and attempted to rape again, it all adds up.
What Lies Ahead For Matt?
The pressing question is, what lies ahead for Matt-so far, Victor’s only demand has been for him to get close to Cane Ashby, infiltrate his inner circle, and gather intel. This is, of course, part of Victor’s plan to take down Cane.
With Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) appointing him as Chancellor CEO, Victor will intensify his efforts.
He must be seething that he entrusted Lily with the company, only for her to hand it over to Cane, someone he despises.
Now, we have Matt tasked with getting close to Cane while Phyllis is supposedly keeping things under wraps.
But Will Cane Actually Get To Know Matt?
Will Cane actually get to know Matt, or will someone warn him ahead of time? It seems likely that someone, perhaps Sharon or Sienna Bacall (Tamara Braun), would eventually reveal the truth.
However, if they remain silent, Cane might actually allow Matt to get close. In fact, there’s a possibility that Cane could end up hiring Matt at Chancellor.
Cane might bring on Holden Novak (Nathan Owens), or Lily might suggest that Cane hire Holden-at least we can be relieved that he’s not a predatory creep.
Victor Gave Phyllis Arabesque-Might She Hire Matt?
This week, in a strange twist of rewarding bad behavior, Victor gave Arabesque to Phyllis.
This is Cane’s company, which he created under his fake identity, Aristotle Dumas. Since Phyllis likes Matt, she might hire him at Arabesque.
Victor might even suggest or order her to do so, making Cane curious about Matt, the man helping Phyllis with his old company.
It’s unknown how Cane will react to Victor giving Phyllis his old company-but Phyllis might still give Matt a job.
Here’s Who Definitely Won’t Hire Matt
Matt definitely won’t get a job with Sienna or Noah Newman (Lucas Adams) at their new Genoa City Shadow Room-they will likely make it clear that Matt is not welcome at their club.
I also doubt Sharon Newman will hire Matt as a barista at Crimson Lights since she wants to stay away from him completely.
However, there is a possibility that Victor might offer Matt a position at Newman, which could trick Cane into believing he might gain some insider information from Matt.
This could make Matt seem more appealing to Cane as a potential friend; still, Matt will probably end up working at Arabesque.
What About Matt’s Love Life-Here’s Who Wouldn’t Touch Him With A Ten Foot Pole!
When it comes to his romantic life, it’s quite easy to determine who would never consider dating Matt. For starters, there’s his wife, Sienna Bacall, who actually needs to divorce Matt.
However, perhaps she doesn’t need to because Mitch Bacall, the man she married, might not even exist-she never married Matt Clark.
Furthermore, Sharon wouldn’t even think about dating Matt, even if he were the last man on Earth and sleeping with him could save humanity. Sharon would rather let the human race perish than be with him.
Here’s Who Else Wouldn’t Have Anything To Do With Matt
Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) also wouldn’t go near him, as she holds him responsible for her brother Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) becoming addicted to fentanyl.
To be fair, Matt is only partially to blame because if Nick and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) had turned Matt in to the authorities, Nick wouldn’t have been in that car accident that resulted in his broken leg.
Plus, Nick left the hospital against medical advice and was consuming opioids like they were candy.
So, he was already struggling with addiction before Matt ever handed him that first fentanyl pill.
Desperate Bachelorette Number One Who Would Date Matt
There are two women in Genoa City who would likely be interested in dating Matt Clark-one of them is Patty Williams.
To clarify, she is also a rapist, so I doubt she would judge Matt for a few instances of sexual assault, not to mention Patty has no chance with Jack.
We still don’t know if she was involved in the disappearance of Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) since that plot hasn’t been resolved on Y&R.
Even though Jack and Diane are happily together on Beyond the Gates this week, which feels random.
However, Patty does seem to have an interest in Matt, and she will never win Jack back-so, it’s possible Patty might pursue Matt.
Desperate Bachelorette Number Two Who Would Date Matt
There’s another rapist in Genoa City who would definitely date Matt, and that’s Phyllis; she drugged and sexually assaulted Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian) years ago and then claimed he got her pregnant.
That’s how Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) came to be; however, he has a different biological father. We also know that Phyllis has feelings for Matt, despite having betrayed him.
Additionally, she wants to keep Matt safe from Patty-so, if Phyllis notices Patty getting close to Matt, I believe she would date him, mainly to keep Patty at bay.
In fact, it’s possible that Matt could end up in a complicated love triangle with both Patty and Phyllis, both of whom have dark pasts.
