William didn’t just bash out a few windows. After all, according to authorities, the damage amounts to about $28,000. So, charges include felony vandalism, trespass, and damaging government property. Additionally, it’s an offense to carry out an act of violence on restricted grounds.

Prior Mental health Issues

Reporting for NewsNation, Mills Hayes said on YouTube that “DeFoor actually has prior criminal charges of vandalism and was placed under the guardianship of his mother in 2024 because of a mental illness.”

Obviously, that could mean that he undergoes a competency evaluation to find out if he can stand trial. Meanwhile, Mike Verdon, formerly with the Secret Service, talked with the outlet about how there probably will be an investigation into it. After all, how did William DeFoor get so close to the home of the Vice President?

A Wealthy Family

The news that DeFoor, named after his dad, also William, comes from a wealthy family arrived via The New York Post. Apparently, Dad’s a “Harvard University graduate” and worked as a “pediatric urologist in Cincinnati.” Not short of a few dollars, they live in “a $1.3 million house in the city’s wealthy Hyde Park neighborhood.”

From the tone of the Post’s article, the true crime could have been rooted in the upbringing of William. Apparently, his dad gave some donations to the campaigns for both former President Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris. However, that’s not yet been established as a motive for the attack.

On a side note, when the New York Post shared a photo in their article, it suggested that possibly, William DeFoor identified on Facebook as “Julia.”
