Prince Harry has a lawsuit against the Daily Mail UK that is still ongoing. You might recall that he claimed the outlet used underhanded methods to get the scoop on his real life. Developments make it once again a subject of discussion.
Accusations Of Bugging
This week, on NewsNation, Elizabeth Vargas spoke with trial lawyer Neama Rahmani to chat about the case. Firstly, Vargas reminded viewers that Harry claimed the outlet used phone tapping. However, he never actually found a bug. But, the very specific details suggested to him that there had to be some sort of nefarious activity going on.

It’s not an easy case for the outlet nor for Prince Harry. After all, the defense team argued that the Daily Mail simply took their information from “leaks in the prince’s inner circle.” Of course, they denied doing anything illegal.
Harry Has To Prove His Case
Harry, of course, deals with the fact that he has to prove this theory, rather than admitting perhaps a friend leaked to the media. And, that could be rather difficult for him. Not to mention that he believes nobody in his inner circle would do that. Never mind that on Netflix, he previously claimed that the Royal Family leaked stories to the media.
Naturally, that was icing on the cake for the defense, because he seemed to have forgotten about that. Then, the panel discussed how Harry seemed to make a blunder in court. Actually, he seemed very emotional and talked about Meghan Markle. According to him, the media made her life an “absolute misery.”
A Big Grudge?
Well, emotion doesn’t really cut it in court where a judge decides and not a jury. As Rahmani noted, mentioning Meghan was also technically “entirely irrelevant” since the lawsuit focused on articles written years before Harry married her.
Make no mistake, the financial outcome could be very good for Prince Harry if he wins. However, there’s perception that he’s got a massive personal grudge that drives him onward. Notably, the panel knows that getting a lawsuit ruled favorably in the UK is much easier than in the US. Still, proving his opinion about bugging might not go as anticipated.
Reactions From Viewers
In the comments section, many royal family watchers wanted to have their say.
One of them opined, “Harry put transcripts of Catherine’s personal text messages in his book Spare, so he doesn’t care about privacy. He just wants what he wants when he wants it, like an addict.”
Here are a few more responses from the discussion area:
- They complain about the media intrusion and yet they are out there every day using the media when it suits them ad to promote themselves when they need to use it! Frustrating listening to the constant complaints.
- Saying “we have to have been bugged” is not going to get over the hurdle–at least not in a just country.
- Harry wrote in Spare that the leaks were likely from his friends considering the amount of detail that was printed. Now he’s saying it wasn’t his friends it must have been the news media. Which is it Harry?
