On February 11, those true crime folks following the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie felt some hope that finally, the FBI had a suspect in custody. However, following their raid on the home of a man named Carlos, they released him. Read on for more details.
Carlos Was Detained
Carlos, who hails from Rio Rico near the Mexican border, ended up arrested and held for several hours before his release, per EW news. However, he also claimed that he wasn’t questioned. He told the news media that he certainly wasn’t involved.
Nevertheless, he hoped they find Savannah Guthrie’s mom. Plus, he added that he didn’t know Nancy Guthrie, although his job apparently involved deliveries in the Tucson area.
The Mother-In-Law
Likewise, his mother-in-law, Serafina, also mentioned to Brian Entin that she knew of the missing person case solely through social media. However, as she didn’t know Savannah’s mom, it wasn’t a big part of her life.
Locked out on the street at her house while the search went on, she felt irritated, agitated and extremely stressed about the whole thing. Notably, she seemed worried about how it might affect her grandchildren.
The Series of Events
The ordeal for Carolos started after the FBI released footage of a person prowling around Nancy Guthrie’s home. Later, SWAT deployed to an area south of Tucson, and hit up on his mother-in-law’s home.
It seems a bit unclear where Carlos was actually arrested, but it seems it happened at a traffic stop. Then, the cops descended on Serafina’s home, breaking down the door.
An Upsetting Time
When Brian interviewed Serafina on behalf of News Nation, she was, understandably, very upset. Mostly, she felt shocked because they took her phone, her daughter’s phone, and even the device that her grandchildren use.
According to her, Carlos wasn’t even out and about the night that Nancy Guthrie disappeared. Plus, she assured Brian that Carlos, a family man, likes spending the weekends with his kids.
Frustration Grows
Of course, public frustration grows with the handling of the missing perosn case that quickly elevated to a true crime. That came after the Pima Sheriff’s office initially left the property open for the media to access.
That changed later, when they were kept away and officials returned to search in the area. Well, except for a report that allegedly, a pizza deliveyr man strolled in as if there were no worries in the world.
Naturally, on social media some criticism starts, especially at the Sheriff attended a ball game during the high-profile investigation. Plus, conspiracy theories arise during the lack of progress that Nancy Guthrie’s case is so unusual it must be some sort of psy-op to distract from the latest drop of the Epstein files.
No Body Found
Despite some clickbait sites claiming on social media that a body was found, for now, it seems via verified sources that isn’t the case. In fact, the search for Nancy Guthrie remains active. Additionally, the reward offered of $50K still stands and the FBI hopes for more information from the public.
Nancy has been missing now for more than 10 days, and given her medical issues with a pacemaker and the need for medication, hope starts fading that she will be found.
