By now, you probably heard that Savannah Guthrie and her siblings put out another appeal about their mom, Nancy Guthrie. Apparently referring to more ransom notes, Savannah talked about their mom, and how she’s so “valuable” to them. However, what followed was a rather troubling analysis by a former NYPD officer. Read on to find out what he thinks.
A Look At The Wording
When the retired NYPD Inspector, Paul Mauro, gave his analysis about the video, he spoke with FOX News on YouTube. During his chat with them, he took a close look at the wording that the family used. Unfortunately, his conclusions sound less than hopeful that Nancy might still be alive.

Breaking it down to specific phrases, he started with the one that said, “We received your message and we understand.” Well, Mauro pointed out that it seemed as if something new happened, like a fresh communication with the kidnappers. Recall, it came after there was some doubt about the first ransom note.
Peace & Celebration
Next, he studied the request for them to release their mom. He cited Savannah as saying, “return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her.” Notably, it seemed that the word “celebrate” troubled him. “That feels to me like a euphemism,” Mauro said, suggesting it meant a memorial, not a homecoming.
Moving on, the most troubling extract from the true crime statement seemed to be their talking about peace. “This is the only way we will have peace,” he read. And then, he questioned why it contained that word. “Peace, not we can’t wait to see her,” he said, adding “You talk about peace when you’re talking about closure.”
Values & Assets
Finally, he analyzed the offer to pay, noting the family said, “This is very valuable to us.” Mauro argued that you call an asset “valuable,” not a living parent. Rather sadly, he opined, “I’m just going to be frank here… Her body.”
Overall, Mauro interpreted the video as a desperate message that Savannah Guthrie and her family aren’t negotiating for a release, but rather come across as wanting the remains of Nancy Guthrie returned. “I don’t think it’s a positive sign,” he opined.
Obviously, many people hope that the 84-year-old who was kidnapped from her home last week is alive. However, it’s been a terrible week and many viewers saw that the FBI notified that there is a reward of $50K for information. That’s not a great sign, because it indicated a lack of progress in the investigation.

In the comments section, some folks agreed that Nancy might no longer be alive. One person opined, “She has departed from this life. You can notice it in Savannah’s expression, and understand the unspoken feelings. They wish to have her remains returned now. This unfortunate family. I truly can’t fathom.”
Meanwhile another person reframed the statement by inserting their version of what wasn’t said:
We received your message and we understand (that our mom has passed on her own). This is very valuable to us (we will pay to get her body back). We need this so we can celebrate with her (her body for a celebration of life), we will pay (we will pay for the return of her body). That’s my interpretation
