Since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from their roles as working members of the Royal Family, they’d worked hard to survive as independent citizens.
Some of the ways they relied on to make money included signing lucrative deals with Netflix, Spotify and even landing publishing contracts with the likes of Penguin Random House.
For a couple of years, things were seemingly going smoothly for the two former working royals, enough for the couple to snatch up a $14 million mansion in the secured and affluent neighborhood that is Montecito.
Sadly, these days, with their Spotify deal binned and Netflix majorly downsizing their contract to a first-looks deal, the Sussexes are scrambling to tie up loose ends.
Prince Harry Still Lives Like A Royal, Insider Claims
When it comes to making Hollywood money, no one is going to deny that Meghan has the most experience. However, even at that, she still wants Prince Harry to carry his own weight.
At present, apart from his speaking appearances, Harry doesn’t have any projects in the pipeline that could bring in big money.
This leaves Meghan holding down the fort, with her lifestyle brand As Ever, which reports hint is strugglng to sell out of certain items.
Bearing an entire family’s expenses on one person can be exhausting, and per an insider speaking on the Naughty But Nice podcast, it’s starting to irritate Meghan.
“Meghan finally told Harry he needs to step up financially. She’s driving the business deals, managing the brand and thinking about the future. She’s tired of feeling like the only one focused on keeping the money flowing.”
The insider further added that while Meghan is heavily driving to open doors for more commercial opportunities, Harry is spending most of his time focused on charities and other non-profit work.
“Harry still approaches life like a royal. He wants purpose-driven work, while Meghan is looking at the numbers and asking how everything gets paid for,” the insider added.
This is coming after a source leaked to Page Six that on top of the fact that “money is tight,” Meghan is still the “breadwinner” of the family.
