Gus Lamont: Parents Share Home Video & Desperate Appeal

The search for little Gus Lamont finally resulted in new video footage of the one-year-old who went missing in the Australian Outback in September last year. Plus, for the first time, his parents spoke about the tragic loss. Read on for more details.

A New Update

The latest update since the disappearance was upgraded to a true crime arrived via 9 News Australia on Wednesday. In it, folks finally got to see the “country lad, barefoot on a sunset ride.” For the first time, followers of the sad story saw a bit of his life before he vanished.

In the video, the parents of Gus, Jess and Josh, broke their silence and issued a statement via the police. In it, they described their emotional state, calling the loss of their son the “darkest days of our lives.” Plus, it went on to say that “every moment without him is unbearable.”

Despite the agonizing wait, they remain “united in our search for answers.” Most likely, they aimed their statement at anyone out there who might know something about their boy. The statement also said, “give us the answers we so desperately need.”

Major Crime & A Suspect

In the first week of February, police escalated the case of Gus Lamont from a missing person to a true crime. At the time, investigators returned to the ranch and started searching again. Plus, the news arrived that someone who lived there stopped cooperating and a suspect emerged due to inconsistent stories.

Of course, the grandparents responded with some anger about that. However, Jess and Josh said nothing. Notably, they were scratched off the list of suspects. By mid-February, the news arrived that one of the grandparents ended up arrested.

An Arrest

Robert, AKA Josie Murray, ended up questioned but not about Gus Lamont. Instead, she faced charges relating to firearms.Video footage revealed the other grandma showing police around as yet another search followed.

Already, the Oak Park Station property became the focus of intense searches. Whether anything was found this time isn’t known. However, some items like a motorbike and devices were taken for forensic examination.

While it’s been described as the “largest and most intensive [search] carried out in South Australian history,” no physical clues were reportedly found during the latest sweep.

The Search for Closure

Investigating officers didn’t just focus on the missing child; they also worked behind the scenes on other scenarios. Perhaps the child was a victim of a true crime? He could have died accidentally and been disposed of. Plus, they examined whether the child wandered off.

However, none of those have yet led to anything conclusive. Many folks volunteered help but to no avail. In their latest statement, the parents also appreciated that, saying, “the community’s kindness has helped carry us through this nightmare.” Dead or alive, investigators and his parents hope that they “locate Gus and return him.”

As the case continues, many people feel that it might never come to a conclusion, and the general feeling is that Gus Lamont died. Still, finding him might help to bring some closure to the family and to the Australian nation.
