Guiding Light Alum Ellen Weston Has Passed Away

The soap opera world is in mourning after losing the iconic and legendary Ellen Weston.  The actress’ death was confirmed this week, Weston was reportedly 87 years old.  The star passed away at Cedars Sinai hospital in Los Angeles, California on May 28, 2026.

Ellen Weston Appeared On Several Soaps

Weston made her daytime soap opera debut on the now defunct Guiding Light in 1963.  She played the part of Robin Fletcher until 1964, and then she made the switch to Another World.

In the 1970’s she appeared on The Young and the Restless for a few years.  Longtime viewers will recall that she played the part of Suzanne, the crazy ex-wife of Derrick Thurston.

While Weston was a member of the Y&R cast, the actress shared several scenes with her character’s Genoa City rival Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper).

Weston Was A Woman Of Many Talents

Several decades later Ellen Weston returned to Guiding Light, only this time it was as the soap’s headwriter.

She was at the helm of GL in the early 2000’s, right before the network pulled the plug on the daytime show.

The talented soap opera actress also appeared in three Broadway shows.  When she wasn’t busy on stage, Ellen Weston went on to write songs and several made for TV movies.

The soap star’s most well-known script was ABC’s And the Beat Goes On: The Sonny and Cher Story (which aired in 1999).
