As we continue to wonder where he was for those missing seven years, speculation is mounting over whether the guy we got back is truly the Nathan we all fell in love with all those years ago.
There are a few reasons we have to doubt that, starting with the fact that the old Nathan never would have come back and practically ignored Maxie — coma or not — while moving on with her best friend.
No way, no how. Something is amiss with this version of Nathan, and one compelling theory is that he is secretly a Cassadine!
Once a Cassadine, Always a Cassadine
Stavros Cassadine (Robert Kelker-Kelly) was nothing short of a monster, and it would be one of the worst days of Laura’s life to find out he isn’t really gone.
Considered dead since 2014, a return to the canvas — and Laura’s life, possibly without any explanation for where he’s been for the last twelve years, would thrill OG fans who have been dying to see a Cassadine comeback for more than a decade since Helena Cassadine’s (Constance Towers) death.
Could Nathan really be Stavros, or might he be Stefan Cassadine (Stephen Nichols) — a much milder menace?
GH Spoilers Claim Lulu Falls Hook, Line, and Sinker
Poor Lulu. Her feelings for Nathan have grown too big for her to contain. This has left her feeling like the biggest problem on her plate preventing her from moving forward with him is the fact that she would never want Maxie to feel betrayed by either of them.
She might also be worried about how Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) would react to her coupling up with his best buddy. But is that his best buddy?
It would be the perfect storm to find out that one of the Cassadine brothers who haunted Laura for so long has come back to prey on her daughter while in disguise!
From Laura to Lulu
Laura Collins (Genie Francis) has quite the ill-fated history with Cassadine men. Her first foray into their world was in a tumultuous relationship with Stavros, though it was one he forced her into amidst his own obsession with her.
Kidnapping and forcing himself upon her, Stavros fathered Laura’s first son, Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss). If Nathan really is Stavros, it would give Nikolas ample reason to come back into the storyline, too. It’s also possible that Nathan is really Stefan.
He may not have been quite the terror that his older brother was, but his return to torment Lulu wouldn’t be any more welcomed.
Dead since 2003, his return would be much more of a shock. What do you think? Is there a Cassadine lurking behind Nathan’s icy blue eyes?
