After that long-winded romance between Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) and Sasha Gilmore Corbin (Sofia Mattsson) that left fans shattered as they both had to come to terms with what their relationship meant after learning they were cousins, most of us aren’t ready for round two with Charlotte and Danny.
Of course, the ties that bind these two aren’t quite at the level of first cousins, but it’s not nothing either.
First Cousins’ (Once Removed) First Kiss
This family tree can get pretty complicated, so try to stick with me. Charlotte and Danny are technically second cousins. Charlotte’s father is Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart). Valentin’s father was Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy).
Victor’s brother was Mikkos Cassadine (John Colicos), who was Alexis Davis’ (Nancy Lee Grahn) father.
Alexis being Danny’s grandmother, this means Charlotte’s grandfather and Danny’s great-grandfather were brothers. That makes Charlotte and Danny second cousins, once removed.
GH Spoilers Say There is Outrage and Applause
Some fans are digging the idea of young love springing eternal in Port Charles.
We’ve lapped it up over the years with other couples like Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) and Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson), and still do alongside even the most painful young love stories, like Josslyn ‘Joss’ Jacks (Eden McCoy) losing Oscar Nero Quartermaine (Garren Stitt).
So it’s not surprising that the fans would cheer Danny on for going after a girl like Charlotte. The problem isn’t either one of them, but their shared DNA, that makes others cringe. Can we blame them?
I’m not sure where this trend of pairing relatives together in romance is coming from, but it overstayed its welcome the last go-round if you ask me.

Recall that Cody and Sasha called it quits just as soon as she learned of her real paternity and that Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) was her father.
His brother being Mac Scorpio (John J. York) — Cody’s father, meant their romance was cut short. But we’re thankful it was before it could be consummated.
