With that said, the ABC daytime drama recently aired an encore presentation of Geary’s final episode on the show; however, an exec for the soap promised more to come.
Nathan Varni Sets The Record Straight
While Luke left Port Charles in July 2015, the character officially passed away from a cable car accident in 2022. It’s important to note that Geary briefly returned in 2017 when, at that time,
Jane Elliot’s Tracy Quartermaine character left the canvas (only to come back, but that’s another story in itself!)
ABC Executive Nathan Varni hopped on the social media platform X with a post suggesting that a tribute show was in the works.
His caption read, “Our team is working on a loving montage to be included later in the month,” he posted. “Keep an eye out. RIP Tony Geary. 💔”
After GH re-aired Geary’s final episode as a way to honor his memory, many GH fans hopped on social media and protested that the move wasn’t enough of an homage for such a legend as Geary.
This likely prompted Varni to draft a post to assure viewers that something more was in the works.
Anthony Geary’s Soap Legacy
Geary entered the land of Port Charles in 1978 and won a total of eight Daytime Emmy awards during his time as Luke Spencer in the category of Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, which is the most a single actor in this genre has won.
In addition, Geary, along with Genie Francis (Laura Spencer), became soap opera super couple royalty, and their November 1981 wedding is still the most-watched one-hour daytime television event, garnering 30 million fans glued to their TV sets as Luke and Laura said their “I do’s”.
As of this writing, no additional information has been provided about Anthony Geary’s tribute or its air date.
