BIG Changes Coming To The Young And The Restless

Big changes are coming on The Young and the Restless, in fact soon soap opera viewers might not recognize any of the storylines or characters.

Josh Griffith has been the mastermind behind some of Y&R’s biggest stories for the past two decades.

However, after twenty years the head-writer and producer just confirmed he’s walking away from Genoa City.

Y&R Showrunner Makes Shocking Announcement

Joshua Griffith originally joined the writing staff at The Young and the Restless in 2006.  By 2008 he had already been promoted to executive producer and was running the writers team.

Griffith left the soap for a couple of years and then returned to the helm in 2013 and has been the mastermind behind some of the soap’s hit storylines ever since.

The former Y&R headwriter also worked on several other soap operas before he landed in Genoa City.  Griffith’s resume includes other daytime hits like General Hospital, One Life To Live, Santa Barbara, and As The World Turns.

Today a new report from TV Insider revealed that after 20 years of working on The Young and the Restless, Joshua Griffith will be leaving the soap opera.

Is Griffith Joining Another Soap

TV Insider revealed that Griffith had already started cutting his role behind the scenes of the soap opera back.

The site explained, “Last month, Griffith stepped down as executive producer, with Sally McDonald taking over those responsibilities, allowing him to focus exclusively on writing.”

Now, Griffith is reportedly resigning completely and leaving The Young and the Restless altogether.  So far nobody has been hired to take over his duties as head-writer.  The soap could be holding interviews as we speak.

How do you think the soap will change without Joshua Griffith working behind the scenes any more?  Were you surprised to hear that he was leaving Young and the Restless?
