Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) didn’t go to Los Angeles, California, intending to take a major step forward. But after a night of drinking and dancing at the club where Holden and Audra first met, Claire acted on impulse.
The night she and Holden spent together didn’t happen on his initiative. He pushed to be alone with Claire in LA. But Holden harbored no realistic expectations that the town where he used to live would also prove to be the left coast setting where love bloomed.
Kyle Abbott Isn’t Loved Completely
If Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) was Claire’s one and only, she likely wouldn’t have left Genoa City, Wisconsin. It’s not that she’s fallen out of love with him. Instead, she has reasonable doubts.
Claire entered what became her first relationship with honesty. Kyle knew her lack of experience was the direct result of Jordan Howard’s (Colleen Zenk) horror show influence.
The first man Claire fell in love with is suffering serious heartache because Kyle sees her as his next wife. The bond she has with Harrison Abbott (Redding Munsell) also means Claire is projected as the ideal stepmother.
Just imagine the interplay that would have existed between Audra and Harrison if her connection with Kyle had advanced as she hoped.
Audra Cortes Remains Full Self-Centered
Audra’s backstory is hard to know. Other than her crying in front of Nate Hastings’ (Sean Dominic) family many months ago, the audience knows little about her past.
Are fans to believe that she told the truth about having a rough childhood that served to produce the high walls she built around herself?
There’s no reasonable way to know if she was exaggerating her life’s story, gave a direct account, or made it up out of whole, soapy cloth. The lack of transparency and the need to deflect from reality led to Nate cutting ties.
She was genuinely stunned and hurt by that breakup. But her response has been typical Audra. Me, myself, and I.
Claire Newman Needs The Truth
Claire can’t make any decisions about Holden now. While he opened up about his tie to Audra and which gives Erin’s character power over this rival, Claire rightfully wondered if he was completely sincere.
Fans know that he and Audra share a deeper secret that they both want to keep buried. Whatever that is must be bad and more criminal than what Claire was told.
When Claire learns or is exposed to Holden and Audra’s sordid tale, another vexing dilemma will exist. Kyle projects to be the one Claire turns to by then, with a reconciliation possible.
