During this week’s episode of My Big Fat Fabulous Life, Whitney Way Thore held a memorial for her cat. If you don’t know, her beloved pet passed away in January this year. TLC fans reacted to the event, and some of them found it hard to criticize the controversial reality TV star.
The Memorial
Henchie lived a long time, so it seemed like a big wrench for Whitney and her family. She always had an obsession with cats, but it seemed quite sweet that she would invite family and friends to honor the memory of her furry companion. Since the cat loved playing with plastic, guests were asked to bring a piece of plastic, and her dad, Glenn, brought along some bubble wrap.
Glenn and his late wife, Babs, who passed away after a stroke, also loved the cat very much. As far as Whitney was concerned, Henchie was way more than just a pet. He was also a faithful companion. But some reality TV fans were surprised that Whitney wanted a formal dress code. Anyway, her friends and family did what they could to make the moment special.
Fans React To The Event
Buddy Bell, Isiah, Jessica, and more got into the spirit of the memorial, each bringing little bits and pieces of plastic to remember their furry friend. However, the stuffed cat version of Henchie seemed a bit over the top to fans, and some of the guests laughed about it.
There was grief and joy, which seemed nice. On social media, while some people slammed Whitney, it seemed more out of habit than anything else. Many people don’t like the MBFFL star. So, some folks took the opportunity to hate that at one point in the episode, she chewed on gum that her friend had already chomped on. That sort of thing normally invites criticism, but this time, even critics felt a bit sad about the passing of the cat.
What TLC Fans Said
When the episode was discussed on Reddit, some fans hated the memorial as everything about Whitey Way Thore always seems larger than life. One critic wrote, “I think all of these people are drunks or are on something, honestly.”
Another one noted, “I love my pets and respect the grieving process for those that have lost them. That being said, I could not keep a straight face if I was at this memorial. I would also be blasted out of my mind on edibles.”
One cutting remark aimed at Whitney seemed a bit harsh. A critic wrote, “Let’s face it. Henchi is in a much better place now. Much much better.”
But, here are other remarks that showed people also felt moved by the memorial:
- RIP Henchie FrFr.
- I don’t know if I’m going to be able to watch this one bc henchi funeral is gonna be too triggering.
- Y’all, I gotta admit, this funeral for Henchi made me tear up a little. What a good boy.
