The Dangerous Summer Rock Band Cancels Tour

The Dangerous Summer has been around for a while now, and while they are not the top rock band in the USA, they have a devoted following. Unfortunately, those fans will be disappointed to hear that the band just canceled the remaining concerts for their summer tour.

The Canceled Tour

AJ Perdomo, the frontman for The Dangerous Summer explained on X, “I am burning out from being on the road so often,” and called the decision to cancel the tour dates “the hardest decision in the world to make.”

He then went on to say that he needs to go home “and be a father, a fiance, and a creative” and work on his life at home. He explained that next year will mark 20 years since the band started and that “I have been overworking to fill a hole in my heart that no amount of shows or success will be able to fill.”

Perdomo added that when he is on stage, he starts to think “about the life that is passing me by while I am away from home.” He noted that while it broke his heart to tell his band and management, they have been “extremely supportive.”

He finished the statement by reassuring fans that “this isn’t the end” and that creating new music is “one of the driving factors in this decision.” He asked fans to continue supporting live music and promised that music and art “need your support more than ever.”

Fans React With Understanding

Surprisingly few people complained about the cancellation. In fact, it seems that fans have become aware of how exhausting life can be on the road. One of those who read the statement on X responded by saying, “Much love and respect, AJ. Enjoy the time with your family.”

Here are a few more reactions taken from the discussion area:

  • That sucks but totally understand AJ. Do what you need to do and see ya back on stage at some point.
  • I’ll speak for every fan and say take all the time you need! Cherish those moments with your fam and we’ll see you again later.
  • Glad we got to see the show in Tulsa. Enjoy the break!
  • Nothing wrong with some r&r.

Other fans put up white heart emojis, and only one posted up a trolling response, asking “Who?”

The Cancellation of Tours Isn’t Unique

A growing trend of tour cancellations emerged among musicians, which seemed tied to extreme fatigue. For example, in 2024, the band The Last Dinner Party called off their European dates because “burnout.”

Five years ago, Metallica frontman James Hetfield postponed performances to prioritize his well-being. Similarly, in 2019, singer Sam Smith cut an Australian tour short because vocal strain mixed with exhaustion made it impossible to continue. Other major artists who canceled tours for similar reasons include Adele in 2017 and Miley Cyrus during her Bangerz tour.
