Actress Sydney Sweeney Will Be The Next Bond Girl?

The James Bond movie franchise is alive and well, and there’s a possibility that Sydney Sweeney will be the next Bond girl. There’s always a Bond girl, and in No Time to Die, Madeleine Swann, portrayed by Léa Seydoux, was the chosen one. Read on for more information.

Why Sydney For The Role?

On Saturday this weekend, The Sun US revealed that there’s a good chance for Sydney Sweeney to land the role. Bear in mind that these days, the Bond girl isn’t necessarily a distressed, helpless woman who needs saving. Moving with the times, strong actresses play the roles of antagonists, mistresses, and villains. Can anyone forget Famke Janssen (Xenia Onatopp), who killed men with her thighs?

It helps that Sydney Sweeney knows Denis Villeneuve the new Bond director as a friend. She already demonstrated impressive acting versatility with diverse and challenging roles. Audiences noted her ability for delivering performances, particularly in emotionally demanding parts. Her standout role in HBO’s Euphoria is one  example.

Jeff Bezos Likes Her

Unlike some other famous faces, Sydney was at the wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez in Venice, Italy. The outlet noted, “Sydney also has the backing of Jeff Bezos, boss of Amazon, which has creative control of the series.” So, that won’t hurt her chances of being the next Bond girl.

Another factor in her current frontrunner status might come from her  new lingerie line backed by Ben Schwerin of Coatue Management. The investment firm recently secured huge funding from tech billionaires Jeff Bezos and Michael Dell.

More Details From A Source

According to an insider source, director Denis Villeneuve believes she would be ideal for the role. The outlet quoted them as saying:

Sydney is the top name on the casting sheet for Bond. Denis believes she is hugely talented, as well as having an alluring appeal to younger generations, vital in modernising the franchise. They’ve hung out together a lot and he has admired her stratospheric rise. Plus Sydney has the quality of being athletic and able to perform physical scenes, as well as being feminine and following in the legacy of Bond girls.

Will Fans Be Happy About The Casting?

The attendance at the wedding might help Sydney get the role, but it’s not clear that fans of the series will jump for joy. Actually, her appearance at the wedding might have hurt her popularity. The lavish wedding found widespread criticism for its excess amid global inequality. Locals protested the privatization of public spaces and environmental impact.

Remember, more than 80 private jets and luxury boats arrived in the city that is threatened by a changing climate. Some critics slammed the wedding and the guests for their tone-deaf display of billionaire privilege.
