While this Christmas wasn’t without its own controversies for the royals – think Prince Andrew spy scandal – King Charles kept to his decision to end this year with a big family event involving both his family and his wife Camilla’s.
This meant that the Waleses attended Christmas Day service with Camilla’s children, Tom Parker Bowles and Laura Lopes, who also joined them for the annual Christmas walkabout that sees the royals meet and greet members of the public.
Prince William’s Media Shy Step-sister Once Accused King Charles of Ruining Her Life
Prince William and Princess Kate were joined on this year’s royal walkabout by William’s step-siblings Tom and Laura, after the duo made “a private arrival” at St Mary Magdalene Church.
While Tom appears in the media from time to time, Laura has chosen to lead a quiet life away from the media gaze, but that doesn’t mean that her relationship with William has been all roses.
In her book ‘Harry and William,’ Katie Nicholl somewhat touched on the Prince of Wales’ relationship with half-sister, Laura. She wrote: “William and Laura used to have terrible fights over who was to blame for their broken homes. William would blame Camilla for all the hurt she had caused his mother, which would send Laura into a rage. Laura was not having any of it. She would take a hard line and fire back at William, ‘Your father has ruined my life.’”
This tense relationship with his step-siblings hasn’t exactly gone away completely, as a Daily Beast source reported that William had considered skipping Christmas if Tom showed up due to the duo’s lingering tense relationship.
However, William was apparently willing to put all this behind to enjoy a big family Christmas with his close and extended family at Sandringham this year.
William revealed: “We’ll be in Norfolk, at Sandringham. We’ll be 45 for Christmas. It won’t be quiet, it will be noisy.”
