Prince Harry Thanks Toronto For Giving Him Two Precious Things

Prince Harry sure knows how to make us all blush and gush and oooo with his words, doesn’t he?

He absolutely did not hold back during his speech at the 17th annual True Patriot Love Foundation National Tribute Dinner on Thursday, Nov. 6. At the dinner, the Duke listed two reasons as to why he’s absolutely indebted to the the Canadian state. Thank you Toronto, by the way.

Prince Harry Reflects On His Toronto Connections: “Means A Great Deal To Me“

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might have dated briefly prior to their 2018 wedding, but they’ve made quite the package deal since then.

They successfully weathered the storm of Megxit and even proved their detractors wrong by staying happily married through it all. And now, as he attended the 17th annual True Patriot Love Foundation National Tribute Dinner, he gave a little nod to the place that started his love story.

“Truthfully and jokes aside, this city will always mean a great deal to me,” Prince Harry said. “You provided a wife for me and you hosted the Invictus Games in 2017, touchstones in my life both professionally and personally.”

“Together we witnessed something extraordinary. The strength of the human spirit that shines when people who have served rise again through sport, teamwork, and a redefined purpose,” he continued, adding, “That spirit, the devotion to those who serve, is something Canada embodies like no other nation.”

After meeting in 2016, Harry visited Toronto several times to reunite with Meghan, who lived there whilst shooting the legal drama ‘Suits.’ Prior to their romance going public, the couple reportedly joined Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank at an apocalypse-themed Halloween party in Toronto.

Their first official couple appearance happened at the 2017 Invictus Games in Toronto.

In addition to sharing his gratitude to Toronto, he also apologized for the hatgate controversy, by saying that Meghan had “lived in Toronto for years and has deep affection for this city, so much so that many people around the world believe she’s Canadian, so I think we can forgive a native Californian for her Dodgers loyalty, even if just for one evening.”
