Meghan Markle Says Royals Stifled Her Nigerian Side With Stuffy Rules

It’s 2025 and the royals are still forever on the lips of one or two Sussexes. This time around, Meghan Markle says she didn’t exactly feel “authentic” in the short time she lived in the UK with her husband, Prince Harry.

Meghan Markle Calls Out the Royals For Making Her Wear Pantyhose

Meghan Markle is “just being” herself these days, by promoting the things that are nearest and dearest to her heart. Fun fact: did you know that the mom-of-two now devotes her evenings to learning French on Duolingo? Yeah, this is not a drill. Soon, we will have a French-speaking Duchess on our hands.

But that’s not remotely the most fun thing about her. She’s a social media influencer, a children’s book author, a podcaster, a mean cook and entertainer and a public speaker.

With all the chaos that comes with being a versatile public figure, Bloomberg Originals’ Emily Chang just has to know whether she believes she’s still being relatable.

“No, I’m just being myself. I think it was probably different several years ago where I couldn’t be as vocal and I had to wear nude pantyhose all the time…That felt a little bit inauthentic.”

P.s this is not the first time that Meghan has openly criticized the Royal Family or even accused them of robbing her of her voice.

Meghan Markle Did Not Celebrate Her Heritage In Netflix Show ‘With Love, Meghan’

If the Royal Family kept Meghan Markle from being vocal about a lot of things – her heritage, for example – Samara Gill is confused as to why she isn’t vocal about those things now.

For example, why aren’t there any Nigerian cuisines on display in her cooking show, ‘With Love, Meghan?’

“She wasn’t really able to celebrate her heritage in the Royal Family [amid] some accusations of racism. [But] I would have loved to see some traditional meals then, for this Nigerian side that she talks about having,” Gill said on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive Show.

“I mean that was missing, in my opinion, from the series because she was very vocal about that from within the Royal Family,” the news commentator noted, adding, “So that was also a confusing move – a lot of stuff is antithetical to what she was complaining about while she was in the Royal Family, I think when it comes to her finding out her Nigerian heritage.”

Makes one wonder, doesn’t it?
