In Court Again
Starcasm reported that this week, on Tuesday, Collier was in court for her latest arrest. She’s dealing with felony charges of forgery “and identity theft.” Prosecutors allege that after her own rental application was denied, she used a client’s information to secure a rental home. The judge heard the evidence and decided the case will proceed to trial.
Citing the order by the judge, the outlet noted:
On this date, I have reviewed the attached Trial Information and the accompanying Minutes of Testimony and find that they contain evidence which, if unexplained, is sufficient to warrant a conviction by a trial jury. Being satisfied from the showing made that the case should be prosecuted, I approve the Trial Information.
A Court Date Set
LaTisha Collier will reappear in court on September 4 for a formal arraignment. If convicted, prosecutors plan to pursue “habitual offender” sentencing. That’s not great news for the WEtv star, as it could increase her prison time to up to 15 years, with a minimum of three years before parole eligibility. Additionally, she faces further court time for a separate felony theft trial in January from a 2024 case.
On the same day as her court appearance, Collier’s landlord began eviction proceedings. Court documents claim she hasn’t been paying her rent. The landlord wants her removed and is seeking a judgment for about $3,400. Records show she has a history of late payments, with the total balance, including late fees, at over $3,700. This is not the first time she or her businesses have faced eviction notices. A hearing is set for August 26.
