Is Prince William Abusing His Power By Doing This To Locals?

Prince William may be Britain’s de facto favorite Prince, but these days, he’s stepped on enough tails for people to start complaining. What does he mean by his 150-acre no-go zone? I’m sure locals would love to know.

What Locals Are Saying About the Security Measures Put In Place By Prince William and Princess Kate To Protect Their “Forever Home”

When someone carries a certain office or has come into the public eye in a big way, certain risks are unquestionably attached to their person.

Prior to moving into Forest Lodge, the Waleses security team took a number of measures to mitigate these risks. However, locals are seeing some of their more sweeping measures as both unnecessary and stifling.

“I’m totally in favor of protecting the Royal family against fools who might try to shoot at them or take photographs,” one local resident shared with The Telegraph, adding, “But the house is very far away, they’ve put a huge fence around it, and there are lots of cameras in the fields. We’re not impressed, I’m afraid.”

In addition to this, certain tenants were asked to vacate their homes ahead of the move, even though counter-claims arose to suggest that these tenants were offered alternate lodgings.

But the 150 acre no-go zone might not be the only thing angering the locals this festive season.

Anti-Monarchy Group Criticizes Prince William and Princess Kate Over Christmas Tree Issue

One of the more pressing disadvantages of this no-go zone is that people have to drive all the way around to get to certain places, like a local Christmas tree farm.

“The Christmas trees issue might seem silly, but the point is this is all public property and William should not have been able to close those roads and close access to that land. It’s not his to do what he wants with,” Anti-monarchy campaigner Graham Smith told Newsweek.

“He’s also forced two people, two families to move out of their homes. They were relocated to other places on the park but this is just another example of William just basically sticking two fingers up to local people and then just grabbing land that isn’t his just so that he can move from one house to another. So it’s just an abuse of power and privilege for me.”

The property is reportedly in the process of being designated under the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005. If this happens, it will permanently be restricted from public access.
