There aren’t even enough mob families for a five families meeting anymore, just him and Selina Wu (Lydia Look); is it time for the mob boss to quit?
Mike Corbin “Visited” Sonny While He Was Sedated
In the April 28 episode, while under sedation after heart surgery, Sonny got a “visit” from his late father. Sonny confided in Mike Corbin (Max Gail) that it was indeed time for him to sever ties with the Mob.
In fact, it was long overdue, as he recognized that his son Michael Corinthos (most recently Chad Duell) had become yet another victim of his criminal activities.
Sonny realized he could no longer sit idly by, hoping that his other children would remain safe.
He was determined to prevent Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi), Avery Jerome-Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola), and Donna Corinthos (Scarlett Spears) from becoming the next casualties of his dangerous lifestyle.
What Will Sonny Do If He Quits?
If Sonny decides to step down as the godfather of Port Charles, what will occupy his time; he doesn’t seem like one to sit back and relax, and he doesn’t play golf!
He still manages his legitimate businesses, such as Poluzzo’s and Volonino Gym; and since Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) returned to town, they resumed their partnership in running Corinthos Coffee. His name is still on the business although Jason handles the majority of the work these days.
Additionally, Sonny continues to own his casinos in Puerto Rico, which provide a significant income. However, given the lucrative nature of his criminal enterprises, he could easily choose to retire.
Sonny Won’t Just Sit Around
Retirement usually means just sitting around, perhaps traveling the world if you can afford it-that doesn’t really sound like him, does it?
Sonny has the chance to revive L&B Records — and maybe even bring back his old love, Brenda Barrett (Vanessa Marcil), to run it alongside her friend Lois Cerullo (Rena Sofer), who is also in town.
However, the soon-to-be ex-gangster has a multitude of paths he could choose for his future, if he really thinks about it.
Sonny could start another club in Port Charles, like the one he used to run with Luke Spencer (Tony Geary) and where his late father Mike often worked. That would be something fun he could do and showcase his L & B artists, or he could do more cooking in Pozzulo’s.
