In the midst of the heartache of feeling Curtis had signaled he was done with their marriage when he walked out of her office, Portia collapsed into Isaiah Gannon’s (Sawandi Wilson) arms that night seeking comfort.
But most of us are really torn on who did who wrong here, and it requires some heavy unpacking.
Curtis Isn’t Innocent
Curtis is hurt right now, and that makes me want to give him a bit of a pass, but he and Trina Tobinson (Tabyana Ali) are both acting like no one else got hurt in this process.
Even if Portia dug this hole for herself, she didn’t intend to, and she was trying to keep her paternity problem a secret until she didn’t have to anymore.
Of course, it makes total sense why they wouldn’t believe her. Still, Curtis has been cozy with Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) for some time now, and it’s clear he never got over his ex-wife.
Portia always felt that, and that was always unfair to her. Curtis just couldn’t own up to the fact that he left unfinished business on the table with Jordan.
GH Spoilers Leak Portia Already Laid the Groundwork
At the same time, Portia didn’t just jump into bed with a random stranger the night that Curtis walked out on their marriage. She was comfortable with Isaiah because they were already growing closer — even if she hadn’t admitted that to herself just yet.
Portia was already quietly carving out a corner of her heart that felt differently with her subordinate than it did with her husband, and for that she is every bit as guilty as Curtis is treating her. Will she ever be able to own that though?
General Hospital Spoilers — Doomed From the Start
If I’m being completely honest, I think Curtis and Portia’s marriage was doomed right from the start. At the time, she married him knowing Trina was his daughter — not Marcus Taggert’s (Réal Andrews).
Finding out broke Curtis’ heart, and yet he was still able to find his way back to his wife and try to make the marriage work. Would he have done that had he not been shot and needed a family to lean on during recovery? It seemed genuine, especially given that they tried to go their separate ways and it’s not what he wanted. But Portia never could stop lying.
That’s the overarching problem that rippled through their marriage. Sure, he might’ve hid his ties to Selina Wu (Lydia Look) and how often he bumped into Jordan, but he was never blatantly dishonest to Portia, nor did he set out to deceive her.
So, while I agree that she may not have been in the wrong with her instant hook-up with Isaiah — however much it was in bad taste, she still caused most of the destruction to the marriage, and Curtis was just willing to call a spade a spade and call it quits when she couldn’t.
