The path forward may be rocky, but their good intentions to make peace for the family could lead them back to being in each others’ good graces.
Now, Dante has invited Gio to join him at Lulu Spencer’s (Alexa Havins Bruening) place to trim the Christmas tree and celebrate the holiday season as a family.
With one big almost-happy family under one roof, will Dante’s path back to Lulu also start to look a little clearer this Christmas?
Gio and Dante Go Along to Get Along
I’m not expecting a huge turnaround for Gio and Dante anytime soon. Despite their truce, they both remain pretty cold toward one another. Neither seem ready to open their arms and let the other in — and for good reason!
Dante believes Gio has been a bad influence on Rocco and is failing to acknowledge it and take responsibility. On the flipside, Gio is still nursing the sting of his father’s cruel words when he lambasted him for being a bad big brother.
But knowing Lulu, she’s bound to try to mend their rift in the few hours she gets with them decorating the tree.
Time Heals All Wounds
Just as it’s going to take time for Gio to forgive his dad’s harsh words and embrace him the way he has opened his arms to Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton), it’s going to take time for Dante to reform his opinion of his other son, too.
But the more that Lulu is around to help him reopen that door, the more I see the opportunity for a reunion between these two former lovebirds to take place sooner than we thought.
They had a rough go of it this past year dealing with Sam McCall’s (Kelly Monaco) death and confronting their feelings for one another being mired in the weeds of bad timing.
But as things settle with Gio and Rocco, will the wounds between Lulu and Dante also start to heal? Who’s going to deny the feelings that bubble up over twinkling lights on a tree and sipping egg nog by the fire?
New Year, New Leaf?
Plenty of us are itching for Dante to get over himself — and Sam — and move on with the first woman who ever truly held his heart. That’s Lulu, obviously.
So far, they can’t get out of their own way. But I like seeing the way they’ve been co-parenting together and making room for each other’s points of view.
When Dante came down on Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr) for hanging out with Gio, Lulu may not have agreed, but she had his back.
They’ve come a long way just since Lulu woke from the coma, but it may be a bit too soon to expect fireworks for New Year’s. What do you think?
