Goddard’s Heartwarming IG Post
Goddard hopped on Instagram and shared a photo (selfie) he took with Francis, on the GH set. In the caption, he wrote: “Reunited and it feels so good.”
He goes on to say, “Genie Francis – a true TV legend – was my TV mom on The Young and the Restless and now I have the honor and fortune of working with her again on General Hospital.”
Goddard added, “Only this time…maybe she’s my nemesis?” The post wrapped up with, “What do you think — where’s this storyline headed?”
Genie Francis’s Y&R Run
Goddard played Cane Ashby on The Young and the Restless (Y&R) from 2007 to 2019. Meanwhile, Francis played Cane’s mom, Genevieve Atkinson, from 2011 to 2012.
In an interesting twist of events, the late and great Tristan Rogers, who played Robert Scorpio on GH (on and off) for decades until his passing, also played Cane’s dad on the Y&R, Colin Atkinson.
In fact, Rogers made his final appearance on daytime drama when he reprised his Colin role on the Y&R, this past August 25. He filmed the scenes prior to his passing.
The Cane Ashby role was recast on the CBS soap the spring of 2025, when Days of Our Lives (DOOL) alum, Billy Flynn (Chad DiMera) took over the part.
Rogers filmed “flashbacks” in Cane’s time away from Genoa City, which was a bittersweet watch for fans, as the actor had passed away early that month, on August 15.
