Some may call Meghan Markle strategic, others may call her narcissistic, but one thing is clear, she is ready to break every rule in the book to make sure As Ever as a brand is a successful business.
But could launching cheap wine on Princess Diana’s birthday be overstepping the lines? Royal sources seem to think so.
Royal Insider Claims This Meghan Markle Move Is Not Lost On Prince William
Believe me, Meghan Markle has been striking the Royal Family’s nerves ever since she and her husband thought it worthwhile to resign their positions and pursue the life of private citizens.
But, using William and Harry’s mother in her latest business maneuver is a little shocking, to say the least. I mean yeah, she launched As Ever (then American Riviera Orchard) on the same day William and Harry were scheduled to give a keynote speech for the Diana Awards, but still.
Royal expert and podcaster Kinsey Schofield appeared exclusively on The Sun to talk about the emotional implications of Meghan deciding to launch her $30 a bottle Rosé wine on July 1 – Princess Diana’s birthday.
She said: “As Ever appears to be the latest attempt to stake a claim in the oversaturated lifestyle market. Still, this launch has struck a very specific nerve, not just because of what the product is, but because when it was released, July 1, Princess Diana’s birthday.”
Schofield continued, “A source close to the royal household told me, it’s not lost on Prince William that Meghan has launched an alcohol brand on his mother’s birthday, the very mum he lost in a drink driving tragedy. When I asked if there was anger at Meghan for using Diana’s birthday to promote her commercial products, my source replied: ‘It’s what he’s come to expect from her.’ He doesn’t think much of her.”
The big suspect here for royalists is that Meghan Markle is very big on doing things that would associate her with the late Princess Diana, from her fashion to her poses. Remember her The Cut magazine picture? Royal fans screamed about that one for a while.
And Schofield seems to completely agree with this, because she noted, “let’s be honest, Meghan has spent years framing herself as Diana’s spiritual successor.”
