Y&R Spoilers: Michael Damian Talks Shocking Return

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Danny Romalotti’s (Michael Damian) surprising return will air this week on the CBS soap opera. With Phyllis Summers’s (Michelle Stafford) life in shambles, she could really use his advice on how to handle Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Summer Newman (Allison Lanier).

Damian’s last Y&R appearance was in 2013. The set has changed so much in the past nine years. Michael said returning to the CBS set was like attending a class reunion. He met the new cast members and caught up with old friends.

Michael didn’t give any actual details about his storyline. He wants it to be a surprise for daytime drama viewers. He revealed that Y&R reached out to him a while back to return for a few episodes, but he was busy and couldn’t fit it into his schedule. However, this time, he had just wrapped filming in Ireland, so he jumped at the chance to return as Danny Romalotti.

“Without giving too much away, Danny is on tour, and he has a break, so he’s popping in for the holidays and checking on everybody,” Damian explains to Soap Opera Digest in their latest issue, available now on newsstands. “It’s been going very well. In fact, I am going back for another episode. I have to say that the writing is exceptional. A lot of emotions and history will play out. Even if you are a new viewer, you’ll still get a good sense of the journey (especially between Danny and Phyllis) and be able to jump right in. You will not feel lost at all.”

Damian said it was especially special to return to reconnect with Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers), Michael Graziadei (Daniel Romalotti, Jr), Lauralee Bell (Christine Blair), and Tracey E Bregman (Lauren Fenmore). He said they all have such a special bond. With his busy schedule, he rarely has time to check in with them.

As for returning in the future again as Danny, Damian said he is definitely interested in reprising his iconic role.

“Absolutely, I would love to return. It might be difficult if I am in London, Ireland, or Romania. But they have airplanes, so I will make it work somehow,” the actor said.
