Sister Wives – Christine Brown Remains Calm While Being Gaslit

Sister Wives spoilers reveal that as the first episode of the new season opened the two are seen in a discussion about the disheveled state of their marriage. However, according to CheatSheet, throughout the conversation, Christine appeared calm contrasting with Kody’s aggressive responses.

Not long after the episode aired fan responses began coming in. Some claimed to have “so much respect” for Christine as she withstood what appeared, to them, to be Kody “gaslighting.”

Sister Wives – Is Kody Brown Not Attracted?

Sister Wives fans will recall that, as Season 16 wrapped, Christine was moving Kody’s things out of the Flagstaff, Arizona home they once shared. In due course, the couple tried to get a grip on what caused their marriage to slip through the cracks.

The discussion, which actually took place in the winter of 2021 for Season 17, saw Christine tell Kody in no uncertain terms that their marriage was kaput if the Sister Wives patriarch was not physically attracted to her.

“I just shrugged my shoulders,” Kody claimed, responding to Christine’s narrative. “I didn’t tell you it was over or use those words; I said, ‘We’ll see.’”

Kody said that his desire to not be physical with Christine had less to do with attraction and more to do with her behavior. He pointed to Christine telling other sister wives of her desire to leave him. Christine clapped back saying that her value in the family was not dependent on whether or not she got along with his “favorite” wife, Robyn.

This heated discussion filled over half of the Season 17 premiere with Kody trying to explain to Christine why she shouldn’t leave the plural marriage and Christine trying, for her part, to explain why she should.

Sister Wives – Reddit Fans Weigh In

Reddit fans had their own take on it and Christine appears to have won the battle in their estimation. “So much respect for Christine for holding it in so long. It’s hilarious that Kody is comparing relationships, not her. She was so calm and focused during the conversation. I don’t think Kody knew what to do. He expected hysterics, begging, promises to do better, etc., and he got none of that,” one viewer wrote.

Another fan speculated that “Kody wanted her to cry and be all upset. He wanted her to blow up and yell; she almost did as they discussed how the kids were treated differently. Kody said that she was comparing relationships (she wasn’t), but it became clear that he was gaslighting her to get the upper hand.”

“I think that’s why he went so low about never loving her and saying, ‘I didn’t know better,’ crap. Her calmness shocked him. It made him angry. Kody wanted to hurt her feelings,” a third Reddit user chimed in.
